Temazcal (traditional sauna)

A temazcal is an ancient ritual that takes place in an igloo shaped sweat lodge.

Our neighbour Enedino, his wife Hortencia and his brother Vicente built our temazcal using mostly bamboo and clay, they designed it to cleanse the body and mind of impurities.

Enedino and his family have been practicing temazcal rituals their whole lives. They use specific rocks that they heat up on the fire for 2-3 hours until they are red hot. They also use medicinal plants and herbs from the mountain to make tea for drinking and to create steam with the hot rocks.

Some examples of the plants used in the ritual include lemon grass, cinnamon, mango leaves, guava leaves, bamboo, white sage bush, rosemary, vicks plant and many more.

The plants used in the temazcal can help with an array of health issues, including anxiety, inflammation, head aches, muscle pains of all sorts, indigestion issues, arthritis, respiratory problems or even just for detoxifying the body.

For the best results, it's recommended to do 3-7 sessions in a row (one per day), however you can notice positive results after just one session.

Sessions are private (for guests only) and go for approx 90 mins.
